Good Morning TDF Dance Company,

I am waking up this morning in awe of how amazing your children are.

Our TDF dance family and the community we have built has never felt more present and connected. My dancers inspire me, their bond and genuine love for one another is so strong. I am most proud of those connections. Magical moments were happening all around us. We had ourselves a weekend filled with laughter! Together is definitely where I want to be. A special thank you to ALL who helped along the way... Whether it be your words, talents, offerings, ideas, hours, and so much more. I enjoyed our time together this weekend, and I hope that you all did too. What we do as a collective dance family big and small means so much.

We have SO much to celebrate and be proud of. It would not be impossible to say all that I want to say, tag and list... Here is an overview of our team's achievements this weekend.

The ADCC Studio of Excellence Award and Industry Dance Awards Best Performance Nomination. Overall Excellence in Dance, Sportsmanship, Organization, and Professionalism.
Industry Awards Best in Lyrical, Contemporary and Modern Nomination for Lover, Please Stay by Kyle Ponte.

Celebrating 15 years!!!

This year The Dance Factory turns FIFTEEN.
A crystal anniversary celebrates fifteen years. How fitting. We love to sparkle at TDF!
To think back over a decade ago I was sitting at my little desk with my paper bookkeeping and pen mailing out registration forms. And, literally jumping for joy when they actually came back. It was just me in my small pink studio in the Village Landing. Except that it never was just me, because from the very beginning I’ve had so much support from all of you. So many dance families have embraced, supported, and cheered our adventures. I’m so grateful for all of it. If TDF has touched the heart of a dancer you know, please share your stories. Thank you.

OUR DANCE FAMILY, OUR RESPONSIBILITY

Parents, I could go on and on sharing with you how proud we are of your children. They effortlessly adjusted to all of our safety protocol. They continue to come to dance every week with respect to safety and a smile. We never take for granted the significance of our role in providing them a safe studio to grow. I felt it important to take the time to recognize the positive role they have played in the success of our summer dance program. Teaching dance is our passion and your children have made the experience that much better. At TDF, we feel very lucky to have such a wonderful dance family.
Thank you for putting trust in us to do our part to provide happy healthy dancing.
Kind regards,
Miss Katie

Although I knew it was coming, and that it was the right decision to keep us all safe, my heart sank when the official announcement was made that schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year. I am sad for our children. Our students hold such a huge place in our hearts. We are deeply missing all of you. We have all felt comfort, so much joy and hope each day when we log on for our virtual classes, and see our team, friends, our TDF family. We are so thankful that you have been so flexible, making safe spaces in your homes for the children to continue their love of dance.

The Dance Factory building may be closed, but dance classes will continue to go on strong thru TDF Live. We are grateful for our team at TDF for all the exciting classes being held. We hope that by keeping things rolling forward, best we can, it will help our students keep some normalcy in their lives. We continue to work hard everyday to make a difference in our students lives. We will remain motivated, passionate, and inspired to continue to nurture our dancers during these tough times. At this time, through our screens, it’s not just about the technique training, it’s about our spirit and positive impact on each other. We’re discovering small break through moments with our students each day. We are here to help create passionate kids, who are focused on something they care about, who have learned how to balance their school work with there commitment to dance, who have learned to work as a team. Dedicated kids who will become dedicated adults. Dance is a gift. We are all so lucky to have healthy bodies, be able to connect, and dance together, through a virtual program. Bringing our TDF family together. We plan to continue with TDF Live for the month of May. We cannot thank you enough for your continued support, your dancers participation in TDF Live is keeping our studio afloat until we are able to open our doors again.

We’re still alive with our hope. We are discussing all options for a year end celebration. We don’t know what’s going to happen in four or six weeks. But, I know that when we go back, I am going to be a lot more grateful for the gift of dance and our TDF community. Going through this process is going to make us so proud of our kids. This dance thing is our bond, and we will lift each other up on the other side of this.

Hi! It’s Miss Katie, I just wanted to hop on here for a second and say how proud and grateful I am for our TDF family.
I am so thankful for how our families have embraced our new way, it looks different right now, its not in the studio, it’s coming directly to our dancers in your home. In a time when we all really need dance most. I think you are all doing an amazing job, I am so proud!
We care so much about you. TDF will continue to share opportunities and resources with you. We will continue to bring the joy of dance into your children’s lives during this difficult time.
I wish you could see all the emails, messages, pictures, and videos that you’ve been sharing of our dancers at home, every single one means so much, and it reminds us why we are doing this.
Again, thank you to our TDF staff, dancers and families for showing up and for making space in your kids lives for dance, movement, music and creativity.
We are absolutely up for this challenge. We will continue to provide our dancers with the tools they need to KEEP DANCING! We will all get to the other side of this together.

xoxo, Miss Katie

Dare to Dream

Throughout my years as a dancer, this studio was always a dream of mine… In that dream I envisioned a dance studio that would provide a creative dance education experience.
Today, I am proud to say that my dream has been realized in TDF. Independently and passionately owned, boasting exceptional teachers and a carefully crafted curriculum.
We never take for granted the significance of our role in introducing children to the beauty and magic of dance. Fifteen years, and my original dream of The Dance Factory always remains at the heart of everything we do.
Thank you for sharing your children with us each week.
Happy Dancing!

Happy New Year! I'm ringing in 2019 with FUN on my mind! Sure, everyone knows that a new year is all about setting out to achieve big, new, shiny goals, and those are super important, too… but, let's remember to MAKE DANCE FUN!

Excited to make 2019 one of the best years yet!!!

I'm declaring a toast! Why, you ask? Well...just because! It's been a crazy week, month and year. It's officially December! And, if we weren't already crazy, we FOR SURE are crazy now, so why not!?

Our dancers have been working hard in rehearsals in preparation for our holiday showcase. Can't wait to spread some joy this holiday season thru dance, and welcome in our families.

With a grateful heart, I would like thank our dancers who joined me at The Annual Toys For Tots Event at East Bay Grille. Your generosity will make a child's morning extra special.

Choose Happy

11/21/2018

Hi Dancers!

It's Thanksgiving week and, hopefully, we are all taking some hard earned, much-deserved time off this week! During this time of gratitude, it's also a great time to take inventory on our happiness and to remember that happiness–as dancers is an inside job! Plus, it's been said that happiness is the highest form of success. So, let's clap along as if we feel like a room without a roof!

It's hard to remember when we're juggling the details of school, rehearsals and choreography and so.much.more that, somehow, we are still responsible for our own happiness. So, during this week, when you hopefully have a tiny bit of downtime to breathe and reflect, take some time to choose to be happy! Do some things that make you happy!

Cheers to a week filled with happiness and to choosing happy every day!

Back to Dance

It’s our favorite time of year: #backtodance! And even though, admittedly, the lead up to the first week back to dance class is crazy-busy, chaotic and hectic for dance studio owners and dance teachers…it’s also super fun and exciting to hit that reset button once again!

We are so lucky to be in an industry where we basically get the chance to reinvent ourselves every year–not a lot of industries have the chance to start fresh once a year! And a new season means a clean slate where practically anything is possible…from a creative perspective, a business standpoint and even a new beginning for the dancers, too!

Students will find new artwork, lighting and other fun updates around the studio. It is important to us to set the space for a new season. It has been rewarding to see all of our happy students skipping back thru our doors.

We will continue to do our best to MAKE DANCE FUN!
Miss Katie
